Kiln Fire Gift cards

Gift cards can be used for almost any kind of purchase across the Kiln Fire app, including classes, supplies, memberships and more. We don't offer physical gift cards, these gift cards are purely digital codes that can be redeemed in Kiln Fire.

It is important to remember that gift cards can only be redeemed in the Kiln Fire web app and only at the studio they were purchased from. When a gift card is purchased, the person’s credit card is charged immediately and the studio is holding the money until it is spent. There is a Stripe-imposed limit of $2,000 for an individual gift card.

How to purchase a gift card?

The primary way a person would purchase a gift card would be using your studio's Public Purchase Link. You can find this link by clicking on Gift Cards > Public Purchase Link. Many studios have added this link to their website navigation or footer for people to buy a gift card.

If your studio uses Kiln Fire’s Point of Sale functionality, a gift card can also be purchased using a physical credit card by clicking on Point of Sale > Gift Card, and then choosing the dollar amount.

Redeeming a gift card

After a gift card has been purchased, the recipient is given a digital code. All gift cards in Kiln Fire start with GC-XXXXXXX.

Gift cards can be redeemed when purchasing a class. When registering for a class, there is an area on the form to enter the gift card redemption code. Monies will be taken from the gift card first and then charge the credit card for the remaining balance.

In the Kiln Fire App, a user can click on Billing & Card and choose to Redeem Gift Card. When they enter the gift card code, the gift card amount is entered into their Account Funds

Who can manage gift cards?

A studio owner needs to give user permissions to people you want to help manage your studio’s gift cards. Go to Users > All Users > Choose the user > Edit Users. Under Other, you will see Can Manage Gift Cards. When you give this permission, this user can create, manage, and view all gift cards as well as add money to gift cards and make transactions with gift cards.

If you want to change the wording at the top of the Gift Card form, click on Studio > App Messages and scroll down to Gift Cards

Manually charging gift cards

A user with gift card permissions can click on Gift Cards and see all of the gift cards that have been purchased from your studio. By clicking on one, the user can Create a Transaction to take money off of the gift card. They can also Add Funds to the gift card.

Manually creating gift cards

In the Kiln Fire app, a studio manager or staff member with gift card permissions can click on Gift Cards > Create New and fill out the gift card form. This can be helpful for promotional purposes, or some studios have used this functionality to “convert” an existing gift card from an older system into a Kiln Fire gift card. A gift card code can then be emailed to a recipient.
