Managing User Permissions

Permissions allow users to help a studio manager with different areas of Kiln Fire.

NAVIGATE TO: Users > All Users.

  • Click on the name you want to add permissions to, Edit User and toggle on Give User Permissions*
  • Select which permissions you want to assign to that user
  • Make sure to click "Edit User" button on the bottom to save what you selected

*For Instructors, you can also select "Can View Own Class Details". Once you do this, you can go to Classes > Instructors, click their name and under Connected User drop down, select the user name for that instructor.

User Permission Types

"Manage" permissions: The user has the ability to edit and make changes to that area of the app.

"View" permissions: The user can see what is happening in that area of the app but they cannot edit or change the settings

The following are all the different permissions you can allow in Kiln Fire:

STUDIO MANAGEMENT

Studio Manager: Can view and manage all aspects of the studio including finances and settings.

USERS

Can Manage Users: Can manage, edit and create/invite new users. Cannot edit user permissions

Can View All Users: Can view all users and their information, including contact information. Cannot edit

PIECES

Can Manage Pieces: Can edit all users' pieces, delete, and mark firing issues.

Can Submit Pieces for Other Users: Can submit pieces for other users, but cannot view or manage any other pieces than their own.

Can View All Pieces: Can view all users' pieces, and mark firing issues.

PIECE PICKUPS

Can Manage Pickups: Can view, edit, and delete all piece pickups

RESERVATIONS

Can Manage Reservations: Can view, edit and delete all user reservations.

Can View All Reservations: Can view all user reservations without editing or deleting.

CHECK INS

Can Manage Checkins: Can view and manage checkins, including editing and deleting user checkin times

Can View All Checkins: Can view all user checkins

SUPPLIES

Can Manage Supplies: Can view and edit supplies, including creating new supplies.

Can Manage Supply Orders: Can view, fulfill, and refund supply orders.

Can Use Point of Sale: Can use POS to sell items and collect credit card charges

Can Discount Point of Sale: Can apply arbitrary discounts within the POS screen

CLASSES

Can Manage Classes: Can view and manage all aspects of classes, including viewing and refunding registrations.

Can View All Class Details (With Contact Info): Can view details about all classes and participants (including contact information), regardless of who is the instructor. Will not include studio financial information.

Can View All Class Details (No Contact Info): Can only view basic details about all classes (without contact information), regardless of who is the instructor. Will not include studio financial information.

Can View Own Class Details (With Contact Info): Can view basic details about classes and attendees (including contact information) where they are the instructor. Instructor must connect their user account within their instructor bio. Will not include studio financial information.

Can View Own Class Details (No Contact Info): Can only view basic details about classes and attendees (not including contact information) where they are the instructor. Instructor must connect their user account within their instructor bio. Will not include studio financial information.

PRIVATE EVENTS

Can Manage Private Events: Can view and manage all private events, including approvals.

Can View Private Events: Can view all private events.

OTHER

Can Manage Kiln Loads: Can manage firing types and kiln loads.

Can Manage Invoices: Can create and manage all invoices.

Can Manage Discounts: Can create and manage all discounts.

Can Manage Gift Cards: Can create, manage, view all gift cards. Can add money and do transactions.

Can Manage Studio Updates: Can write and edit new and existing studio updates.
